Indian Pop Singer Anushka Manchanda Raises Awareness on Animal Rights and the Environment

Indian Pop Singer Anushka Manchanda Raises Awareness on Animal Rights and the Environment

The Indian musician, model and actress just released Don’t Be Afraid, the first of three singles and videos planned for this year. She says Nuka provides her with a platform to explore different mediums as a visual artist, editor, music programmer and creative producer

Manchanda spoke with the Indian Express about the way she combines modern day issues and art.

"The idea is to be authentic — to speak from the heart, do, say and present things in a certain way and only when they come from within,” she told the news publication.

She goes on to said that, "It is very clear when we look at what is happening in the world today, that we are losing our connection with nature. We disrespect our planet, each other as humans, and other beings that live on this earth. Nature has the answer to all our problems. It recharges us and nurtures us. We must reconnect with it.

"Animal welfare is a cause close to my heart."

This was the reason that the first project Manchanda did via Nuka was a story called Mute, where they created a creature that is half human-half animal.

In her own words - "The creature that we have created may not be real, but is very familiar, our visual depiction of what takes place in what is left of the wild. In a world where species are dying out because of our carelessness & apathy, we must pay attention to the beings we share our home with."
