Will world leaders finally take action on plastic pollution?

As the G7 summit gets into gear, rumors of a plastic charter have many asking whether the world's most powerful industrialized countries will finally seize the moment and commit to beating plastic pollution together. 

Hate crimes, discrimination, inequality and nightmare events like the deadly war in Syria can make us feel that our world is upside down. But these are not the only urgent issues world leaders have to address. Climate change and plastic pollution are much quieter threats — but relentless and fierce nonetheless.

GruntVegan: The 44th G7 summit is being held on June 8-9, 2018, in Charlevoix, Quebec, Canada. The summit is now sometimes referred to as the G6 +1 due to a number of recent developments including the departure of the US from the international stage, withdrawal from the Paris Accord and aggressive action toward countries that are historic allies.
